GTIA, the parent organization of ChannelCon, has reached agreement with the United Nations to collaborate on the U.N.’s AI for Good platform.
The partnership is not yet final, but the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA) executive committee said all the details are set. The group discussed the partnership and what it means to GTIA members during a news conference this week at ChannelCon 2026 in San Diego.
“We passed clearance last week to be their partner, “ GTIA chief channel officer Nancy Hammervik said. “They're putting the program together on their end for next year. We're just waiting to solidify the details.”
The U.N.’s digital technologies agency established AI for Good in 2017 to find innovative AI applications to solve global challenges. It holds an AI for Good Global Summit every year.
Hammervik said the partnership will involve three virtual or hybrid events where GTIA members will submit technology solutions built with AI. The GTIA will select the best channel solutions and bring them to the 2027 AI for Good Summit next June in Geneva.
“It gives all our members a front-row seat to the innovation happening at that level,” Hammervik said. “All the work we'll be doing building the standards and governance will lift up the industry. GTIA is seated at the table to help build governance and work through ethics questions around responsible AI.”

MJ Schoer, GTIA’s chief community officer, said globalizing AI programs will benefit GTIA’s channel members.
“This gives us the ability to truly globalize these programs much more quickly, which is a significant benefit to our global membership,” Schoer said.
Hammervik said the U.N. works with companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook on AI, ”but they're not looking for a vendor-driven group — they're looking for a community like GTIA. We have a track record standing for standards, and they understand our history and roots with CompTIA and certifying skills. They're thrilled to have us as a partner, and it bolds the ‘G’ in GTIA.”
